Stephen Brown
Stephen Brown EAMP., has reduced the hours of his practice on Bainbridge Island. From January 2024 please contact him by phone (206) 855-9587 to schedule appointments. Stephen is a licensed shiatsu and acupuncture practitioner born and raised in Japan. Graduating from Japan Central Acupuncture College in 1983, he studied in the clinic of shiatsu master Shizuto Masunaga, the originator of Zen Shiatsu. Later he traveled to China to study Traditional Chinese Medicine and exercises (Chigong). Stephen started teaching in Seattle at the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 1986 and is currently a faculty member at the Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine. Given his gift with Japanese, Stephen has translated many books on Oriental medicine including Qigong for Health, Meridian Exercises, and Meridian Therapy. He is assistant editor of the North American Journal of Oriental Medicine. Stephen has taught at Reed Svadesh Johnson’s Institute of Bodymind Energetics for over ten years offering innovative continuing education for bodyworkers. Stephen practices on Bainbridge Island and offers Zen Shiatsu, Sotai Therapy and Japanese acupuncture. He teaches at the Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine (SIOM) in Seattle.

Zen Shiatsu with Sotai Therapy (structural integration) lasts up to 75 minutes. Clients remain clothed and can receive the session on the floor or a table.
Japanese acupuncture with additional moxibustion or heat therapy is gentle and effective and session lasts up to an hour. Clients will have to partially disrobe and the treatment is done on a table.
